Healthy Mums Check in - Steph
Some truly amazing and generous mums are featured on the Healthy Mothers Healthy Families website. It has been a few years since the website launched and we thought it would be great to check in on some of these incredible mothers and get an update on how they are progressing.
This week we spoke to Steph.

What are you doing now?
One of my goals I set after HMHF was to complete my masters degree which I did back in 2021 but now I am actually working less, making more time for self care and family time. I have a much better work/life balance and I don’t feel bad anymore about putting myself first when I need to!
What changes have you made after Healthy Mothers Healthy Families that you have maintained?
I made sure I considered my own well-being when making decisions related to the rest of my life and that of my family members. It was hard at first because the thought of being selfish came into it… but after a while I realised that when I was looked after, everyone else on the family was doing better too! I make sure I have one day per week that can be used for self care, appointments for myself etc and it’s working really well!
If you could give other mothers of children with disability some advice, what would it be?
You are not selfish for taking care of yourself!
You cannot pour from an empty cup, so let yourself be nourished so you can be your best self for your family.
Thanks Steph - you continue to inspire us.
